Forget the tuxedo and bow-tie look; Akshay is making heads turn with his rugged look this time.

In his first stint with television, Akshay will be seen in a rugged avatar in Fear Factor – Khatron Ke Khiladi .

As sources put it, the styling has been done by a London-based designer and Akshay’s look includes unusual hooded jackets, contemporary scarves and trendy boots. Not to forget his wicked and rugged personal style with his military crew cut, salt ‘n’ pepper stubble and designer aviator glasses that perfectly complement the look.

A highly placed source in the channel to air the show, Colors, reveals, “Akshay’s look is all about living life by your own rules. The show will test the physical and mental strength of the contestants. The look had to be a perfect synergy between his bold personality and his role as an anchor of the reality show with death-defying stunts. And Akshay himself has loved the look since it comes very close to his personal style.”

Hang on this is not one of Akshay's latest movie stunt but a promotional film for India's biggest action packed reality drama 'Fear Factor Khatron Ke Khiladi'. The film was shot in the colorful city of Bangkok which marks the beginning of a never-seen-before multimedia campaign for Entertainment channel COLORS driver property.

The film, literally shot like a Bollywood movie trailer, is a foretaste of what is to hit the small screen with Bollywood's ultimate extension on Television - 'Fear Factor Khatron Ke Khiladi'. The promo film commences with Akshay Kumar, host of the show performing death-defying stunts, thus living up to his reputation of being India's first 'Khatron Ke Khiladi'.

A reality-show, Khatron Ka khiladi is all set to be launched in mid-July on Viacom 18’s new Hindi general entertainment channel, Colors.

Viacom 18’s ‘Colors’ aims for top 3 slots in 12 months

The soon-to-be-launched general entertainment channel (GEC) ‘Colors’ from Viacom 18 (a 50:50 joint venture between Viacom – a $11.5 billion entertainment content company comprising MTV Networks, Paramount Pictures and Network 18 – a media conglomerate) aims to become a ‘formidable’ player and bag the top three GEC slots within a year of its launch.

The GEC, to hit the small screen on July 21, will be a free-to-air channel for a few months before becoming a paid one, Rajesh Kamat, CEO, Colors told FE, adding that the channel will be on both platforms – analogue as well as digital TV.

“While the details for analogue homes have already been worked out, talks are on with existing DTH players like Dish and Tata Sky and soon-to-be launched DTH players that include Reliance’s and Bharti’s proposed ventures. We are expected to close deal with them by the end of this week,” he said. Production house Colors is currently working with, among others, Sphere Origin, Wizcraft, Sagar Productions, Deepti Bhatnagar Production.

Kamat said that although the channel has adopted an eclectic approach by developing a healthy mix of programmes from all genres, Colors has dared by launching a reality adventure show based on Bollywood personalities’ in the prime time, pitching a ‘reality show’ against the ‘soap’ (prime-time programme of competition) and not the conventional soap against soap. The GEC is also in talks with international production houses to buy some worldwide famous reality show formats.
